Country music icon Dolly Parton has received a $100 MILLION prize from the Bezos Courage & Civility Award setup by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The honour recognises leaders who “pursue solutions with courage and civilty”.
Parton has been a longtime philanthropist, founding a number of charities including the Dollywood Foundation which focuses on education and child poverty and donating $1 million to fund vaccine research during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a video clip of the prize-giving ceremony, Dolly is heard saying “Wow! Did you say $100 million?” and has vowed to do her “best to do good things with this money”.
